Hi Dob….
You Say…Sharon these two verses show that Noah had gotten himself drunker than a skunk, You might also want to concider that Noahs wife, sons, and daughter in-laws were also drinking, and that should be concidered as so when the next verses unfold. And thats because of the part inverse 21 that says Noah was uncovered with in his tent !!!
Dob I guess you should be afraid to fear that I might then get the impression that your trying to change around the words of the Bible. You just did so here.. You claim that his family was drinking with him, but that is not what is Written nor are their actions showing drunkenness. You even Added the daughter in laws were drinking when wives and daughter in laws are not even mentioned.. In the bible.. Yes in the Book of Division (Jubilees) it is mentioned but that is not in the bible. ….maybe its because we live in such an age we no longer think that seeing ones Father naked is not enough to cause for shame… we must add incest to it to make it more shameful…but there was a time when seeing ones Father drunk and naked was shameful… but today I guess we need more than that to shame us..
Maybe that is part of what is happening to you in that you are now adding to the things you are saying because you can not separate between other books and the bible. You are reading other folks myths and legends and taking them as true rather than believing what is actually written. Get a child to read it for you and see if they think that Ham had sex with his Mom instead of what it actually says.. I think you will find that even a child knows what is said in that scripture and will not add to it.. Nor take away from what is said…
W hy would Noah curse his grandson who never saw him naked and not his son who did not see him at all… lets face it his name is Canaan means.. depressed one..lowly one.. So it was set into motion before his birth.. Which is why only this grandson was cursed.. The clue was given in his name… before the drunken incident … no need to add such evil as incest … or shame where there is none needed. Now it is not like God could not put incest or sex in his bible if he wished, and he did in the case of Lot.. Spoke of it quite freely…did not hide it for fear of offending us who are reading the bible or trying to hide the truth so we must change or add to what is written to find the truth. I believe this happened with Lot just as it say for it is Written in the bible. In the case of Noah it is not written… in the case of Eve it is not written….
Yup God has no trouble writing about Lots incest so why would anyone think that if God says nakedness what he really means is incest?? Or if God says eat he really means sex..

Dob you say….The Bible uses the term to uncover another persons nakedness when it's speaking of them as having sex.
Compare THY FATHERS NAKEDNESS in Gen.10:22 to THY FATHERS NAKEDNESS in Lev.18:8
I did that…read Gen and Lev and found them lacking in meaning naked meant sex, mostly because at the end of all that not seeing folks being seen naked ….God says this…
21And thou shalt not let any of thy seed pass through the fire to Molech, neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God: I am the LORD.
22Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.
23Neither shalt thou lie with any beast to defile thyself therewith: neither shall any woman stand before a beast to lie down thereto: it is confusion.
24Defile not ye yourselves in any of these things: for in all these the nations are defiled which I cast out before you.
Clearly God knows the difference between naked and sex…
And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brethren without. [9:23] And Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laid it upon both their shoulders, and went backward, and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were backward, and they saw not their father's nakedness.
Because they put a garment over their Father they covered his nakedness and so did not see their Fathers nakedness.. How do you explain this? If nakedness means sex why if you cover a man with a garment does it cover his wifes adultery also? Was it a magic garment? Walking backwards will not stop you from seeing your brothers betrayal by sleeping with is Mom but it will stop you from seeing your drunken Father naked upon is bed?
"And Adam knew his wife; and she conceived."
"And Cain knew his wife."
The sons of God came in unto the daughters of men."
Judah saw there a daughter of a certain Canaanite, whose name was Shuah; and he took her, and went in unto her. And she conceived, and bare a son.
16And he turned unto her by the way, and said, Go to, I pray thee, let me come in unto thee; (for he knew not that she was his daughter in law.)
18And he said, What pledge shall I give thee? And she said, Thy signet, and thy bracelets, and thy staff that is in thine hand. And he gave it her, and came in unto her, and she conceived by him
And Judah acknowledged them, and said, She hath been more righteous than I; because that I gave her not to Shelah my son. And he knew her again no more.
10And it came to pass, as she spake to Joseph day by day, that he hearkened not unto her, to lie by her, or to be with her.
14That she called unto the men of her house, and spake unto them, saying, See, he hath brought in an Hebrew unto us to mock us; he came in unto me to lie with me, and I cried with a loud voice:
"And the damsel was fair to look upon, a virgin, neither had any man known her."
Jacob asks for Rachel so that he can "go in unto her."
She says to Jacob, "Behold my maid Bilhah, go in unto her."
"Reuben went and lay with his father's concubine."
Dob these are some of the examples God uses to say that a man and a woman have had sex… all are in Genesis.. All are using the same words.. No where does it call nakedness sex.. …
I think the big problem stems from who we are today… once nakedness was seen as an shameful thing.. In fact that is why Adam and Eve covered their nakedness…. With fig leaves… how do you cover the sex act with leaves? God covers their nakedness with animal skins for cloths. I can not find anywhere that God speaks of being naked as having sex.
…
Mark 14:51-52
King James Version (KJV)
51And there followed him a certain young man, having a linen cloth cast about his naked body; and the young men laid hold on him:
52And he left the linen cloth, and fled from them naked.
Habakkuk 2:15 Woe unto him that giveth his neighbour drink, that puttest thy bottle to him, and makest him drunken also, that thou mayest look on their nakedness!
Revelation 3:18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.
Hosea 2:9 Therefore will I return, and take away my corn in the time thereof, and my wine in the season thereof, and will recover my wool and my flax given to cover her nakedness.
Nahum 3:5 Behold, I am against thee, saith the LORD of hosts; and I will discover thy skirts upon thy face, and I will shew the nations thy nakedness, and the kingdoms thy shame.
